Jenny Thompson Breaks Record in 100 Yard Butterfly -- December 20, 1998

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - Olympic gold medalist Jenny Thompson broke the U.S. Open and American record in the 100 yard butterfly at the Kerr-McGee Elite Pro-Am Swim Meet. Thompson's time of 51.07 shattered the old record of 51.75, set in 1992 by Crissy Ahman-Leighton. She also betters the NCAA record of 51.34 set by Misty Hyman in March 1998.
