Hall Can Compete Again! -- August 15, 1998

Olympic gold medalist Gary Hall Jr., who was suspended after testing positive for marijuana, can compete again. FINA officials said the ban was being lifted pending further investigation by their doping panel. Hall was provisionally suspended last month by FINA, which said he tested positive for marijuana during a May 15 competition in Phoenix. FINA's decision kept Hall from competing at the recent Goodwill Games; and he has not competed at the U.S. National Championships this week.
