Voelker Ready to Take On The World -- December 18, 1996

From Reuter's News Service - German swimmer Sandra Voelker dominated the European Sprint Championships this past weekend.

Voelker won gold in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m freestyle relay and 200m medley relay; setting two European records in the two freestyle events and a World Best time in the 200m medley relay.

Voelker, who sprung to prominence when she took three medals at the 1996 Olympic Games netted 11,250 marks ($8,000) for her record-breaking run.
