Bowling Green to Drop Men's Swimming -- March 20, 2002

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio—Members of the Bowling Green State University swimming team were informed today that their sport is being dropped this year, along with men's indoor/outdoor track and men's tennis. Paul Krebs, the athletic director, gave the reasons for elimination as a $3.4 million athletic budget deficit and Title IX compliance. The official announcement will be made at a press conference March 21 at 2 p.m. Bowling Green's men's team finished seventh at this year's Mid-American Conference Championships.
