USA Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals: Slew of Olympic Trials Cuts Posted

PALO ALTO, California, August 9. THE U.S. continued to show its depth as a slew of Olympics Trials cuts were posted during the second night of swimming at the USA Swimming Long Course Junior Nationals.

Women's 400 IM
Pleasanton's Celina Li cruised to victory in the distance medley event with a time of 4:46.96. Franco's Kara Kopcso finished second in 4:48.24, while Lancaster's Emily Cameron placed third in 4:48.27. A total of 25 swimmers from finals made the Olympic Trials cut of 4:55.89.

Men's 400 IM
Palo Alto's Adam Hinshaw hit the wall in 4:18.95 to capture the men's 400 IM. Metro's Carlos Omana checked in with a second-place time of 4:21.85, while Dynamo's Gunnar Bentz snagged third in 4:23.64. 20 swimmers eclipsed the Olympic Trials cut of 4:30.49.

Women's 100 free
First Colony's Simone Manuel clocked in at 55.22 to win the sprint event. Star's Faith Johnson touched second in 56.06, with Fort Worth's Julia Anderson earning third in 56.21. A total of 11 swimmers beat the Olympic Trials cut of 57.19.

Men's 100 free
Alamo Area's John Murray captured the men's sprint event with a 50.93, while Erik Risolvato placed second in 51.02. SwimStrongsville's Michael Meldon completed the podium with a third-place 51.11. Nine swimmers bettered the Olympics Trials cut of 51.49 during finals.

Women's 200 back
Dynamo's Kylie Stewart raced to a finish in 2:12.31, while Verona's Sierra Kuhn finished second in 2:13.14. Team Florida's Lauren Driscoll wound up third overall in 2:13.75. 25 swimmers in the event dipped under the Olympic Trials cut of 2:17.99.

Men's 200 back
North Texas' Aaron Greene topped the distance dorsal in 2:02.31. Carter Center's Jacob Siar finished second in 2:03.04, while Palo Alto's Jeremy Dezwirek picked up third in 2:03.13. Notably, Stingray's Josh Friedel won the C final in 2:02.82. 11 swimmers beat the Olympic Trials cut of 2:04.99.
