YMCA Short Course Championships: Hali Flickinger, Steven Zimmerman Down YMCA Records
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, April 7. TWO more YMCA records went into the books at the YMCA Short Course Championships today.
York's Hali Flickinger downed her YMCA record in the women's 400 IM with a 4:09.30. That swim pulverized her previous record of 4:12.51 set in 2010. Middle Tyger's Annie Gillig touched second in 4:15.99, while Sarasota's Taylor Katz earned third in 4:17.81.
Countryside's Steven Zimmerman lowered the YMCA record in the men's 200 back with a winning time of 1:43.07. That performance eclipsed the 1:44.25 set by Patrick Schirk back in 2005. Lakeland Hills' Luke Papendick took second in 1:44.56, while Triangle Area's Kevin Rogers grabbed third in 1:47.29.
Green Bay's John Bushman clocked a 3:52.08 for the men's 400 IM title. Spokane's Coleman Allen finished second in 3:53.13, while Wilton's Christian Higgins wound up third in 3:53.75.
Birmingham's Nikki Barczak hit the wall in 50.23 for the women's 100 free victory, while Lynchburg's Susanna White placed second in 50.59. Cheshire's Elizabeth McDonald posted a third-place 50.63.
Auglaize Mercer's Josh Fleagle stopped the clock in 44.63 for the men's 100 free title. Triangle Area's Joe Bonk placed second in 44.78, while Brandywine's Tom McKee picked up third in 45.56.
Sarasota's Ashlee Linn claimed the women's 200 back title in 1:56.40, while Gillig earned second in 1:57.15. Middle Tyger's Kendall Crawford placed third in 1:57.48.
