MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, March 26. CALIFORNIA's Nathan Adrian rattled his American record in the men's 100-yard free with a dominant effort at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships.

Adrian ripped off a blazing time of 41.10, just off his American record of 41.08 from 2009, for the third-fastest effort of all time. Cesar Cielo owns the U.S. Open and NCAA record with a 40.92 back in 2008. The win is Adrian's third in a row, and this one came out of lane eight with some outside smoke. He joins California's Matt Biondi, Tennessee's David Edgar, California's Anthony Ervin, Michigan State's Charles Scholes and Rutgers' Walter Spence as other three-time winners.

Texas' Jimmy Feigen blasted a 41.66 for second, off his fourth-ranked personal best of 41.49 from 2009, while Auburn's Adam Brown placed third in 41.84, missing his prelim time of 41.75 that moved him to 10th all time.

USC's Vlad Morozov (41.88), Texas' Dax Hill (42.06), Stanford's Austin Staab (42.30), California's Graeme Moore (42.39) and Auburn's Marcelo Chierighini (42.49) also scored in the championship heat.
