Missy Franklin Downs National Independent High School Record

FORT COLLINS, Colorado, February 12. AT the Colorado State High School Championships tonight, Regis Jesuit's Missy Franklin, a sophomore, took down the National Independent High School Record in the 100-yard back.

Franklin charted a time of 52.30 for the individual title to take down Natalie Coughlin's 1998 independent school record of 52.86 set for Carondelet. Eden Prairie's Rachel Bootsma still owns the overall high school record with a 51.53 from November 2010 in Minnesota.

Franklin also clocked a 22.41 in the 50 free, just missing Maddy Schaefer's independent school record of 22.24. Franklin leadoff Regis Jesuit's 200 medley relay with a 24.44 50-yard backstroke. She finished the meet as the anchor on Regis' 400 free relay that clocked a 3:22.42. Franklin threw down a 47.77 final leg during the swim.
