PENNGROVE, California, September 4. WALTER "Walt" Eggert, a USA Swimming official, passed away due to heart failure on Aug. 29 at the age of 85 according to the Press Democrat.
Eggert and his wife, Anneliese, began officiating shortly after their children began to swim competitively. The pair officiated swim meets throughout the world, and also gave clinics on officiating for USA Swimming. Anneliese went on to officiate at the 1996 Athens Olympics.
