Maria Lenk Trophy: Guilherme Guido, Fabiola Molina Clock World-Ranked Times

SANTOS, Brazil, May 7. A pair of top 10 times in the world were clocked today at the Maria Lenk Trophy held in Santos, Brazil.

Guilherme Guido jumped from seventh in the world to fifth with a winning time of 25.00 in the men's 50 back. Guido, who previously owned a 25.09 from March, nearly became just the fifth man under 25 seconds this year with his win. Liam Tancock (24.52), Matt Grevers (24.72), Junya Koga (24.86) and Camille Lacourt (24.87) are the only men faster than Guido in the sprint back this year. Glauber Silva took second in 25.98, while Gabriel Mangabeira finished third in 26.06.

Fabiola Molina claimed the women's 50 back title in 28.50. Her performance matched her season-best clocking from March, which is tied for ninth in the world this year. Xutian Longzi of China clocked the other 28.50 this year in April. Etiene Medeiros touched second in 29.28, while Natalia Diniz claimed third in 29.83.

Leonardo De Deus, Kaio Almeida and Frederico Castro put on a show in the men's 200 fly with a trio of times in the 1:58 range. De Deus, who already as a season-best time of 1:58.13 from earlier in the meet to rank 20th in the world, won the race in 1:58.44. Almeida placed second in 1:58.57 to move into 23rd in the world. Castro completed the podium with a third-place time of 1:58.94.

Joanna Maranhao won another event this week with a convincing victory in the women's 200 fly. She topped the event in 2:11.86, well ahead of Julia Gerotto's second-place time of 2:16.06. Daiene Dias placed third overall in 2:16.15.
