Chinese National Games: Asian Record Falls to Zhao Jing -- October 19, 2009

JINAN, China, October 19. AN Asian record fell on the third day of swimming at the Chinese National Games held in Jinan.

Zhao Jing captured the women's 100 back title with a top time of 58.96. The performance beat her Asian and Chinese record of 58.98 set at the 2009 World Championships held in Rome. Gao Chang finished second in 59.31.

Additionally, Qi Hui won the women's 100 breast title with a swift time of 1:05.47.


Zhang Lin added the men's 200 free gold to his victory in the 400 free earlier in the meet. Zhang clocked a time of 1:46.12, coming up short of his national record of 1:45.83 set in April. Sun Yang wound up taking second in 1:47.22, while Zhang Zhongchao placed third in 1:47.93.

October 19, 2009 Qi's time is not an Asian record or even a national record. Ji Liping swam 1:05.32 2 months ago at nationals.
