Passages: Italy's Alberto Castagnetti, 66 -- October 12, 2009

VERONA, Italy, October 12. ACCORDING to an Associated Press report, Italy's Alberto Castagnetti passed away at his home in Verona, Italy after recovering from heart surgery.

Castagnetti has been the head coach for Italy's swimming program since 1987, and competed in the 1972 Munich Games. He also personally coached Federica Pellegrini to a pair of world titles this summer at the 2009 World Championships in his home country.

Castagnetti also coached Giorgio Lamberti and Domenico Fioravanti.
