South African Short Course Championships: Flash! Cameron Van Der Burgh Sets Another World Record -- August 9, 2009

PIETERMARITZBURG, South Africa, August 9. A day after setting world records in the 50 and 100 breast, Cameron van der Burgh was at it again at the South African Short Course Championships.

van der Burgh lowered his 100 breast world record set during the semifinal rounds with a winning effort of 55.99 to become the first man under 56 seconds. That performance eliminated his 56.39 set yesterday.

August 9, 2009 According to Swimming World's time conversion utility, it converts to 50.17! Top time ever is Dugonjic 50.86!

Notice van der Burgh's club name. The Players club is actually Ryk Neethling's club. Neethling himself coaches Lyndon Ferns now, but I think the Japanese coach (not sure of his name but he coached Kitajima) actually is in charge of van der Burgh.
