MORAGA, California, May 10. KASEY Carlson, who is a six-star prospect in the Swimming World College Recruit Rankings powered by Take Your Marks, became the first female in high school swimming history to clear 59 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke.
At the Diablo Foothill Athletic League Championships held in Moraga, Calif., last night, Carlson demolished the previous record with a 58.89 while representing Las Lomas High.
The effort tracked down Jessica Hardy's national high school record of 59.20 set for Woodrow Wilson High in 2005. Carlson's next target could be Tara Kirk's American record of 57.77 set in 2006, since Carlson still has sectionals ahead of her.
