Miami Signs Holland's Groot -- December 4, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Dec. 4. UNIVERSITY of Miami (Florida) head swimming coach James Sweeney today announced the signing of Holland’s Chantal Groot to a national letter of intent to attend the University of Miami next fall.

"Chantal Groot is a world class athlete who will bring international experience and dedication to the team. She will have a tremendous impact on the Big East and NCAA level. We are very fortunate to have such a great student athlete come to the University of Miami."

Groot won a silver medal as a member of Holland’s 4 x 100-meter freestyle relay at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Groot’s personal best times include 25.55 in the 50-meter freestyle, 55.20 in the 100-meter freestyle, 27.25 in the 50-meter butterfly and 1:00.34 in the 100-meter fly.
