Tae Hwan Park Changes Training Location to Southern California -- January 5, 2009

LOS ANGELES, California, January 5. KNOWN for his desire to learn from a variety of coaches as well as experiencing different cultures, world-traveling South Korean Tae Hwan Park has moved to the U.S. to train according to the Korean Times.

Park, who won the gold medal in the 400 free at the Beijing Olympics, will train with Dave Salo at the University of Southern California for six weeks starting today.

"I will train very hard to put in good performances at the World Championship. I hope my fans give me support and encouragement," Park told the Korean Times. "First of all my goal is to break my record in the 1500 meters. Though I haven't shown good performances in that event, I will rebound and do better. I will try to cut my time by .1 seconds in the turnaround."

This isn't the first time that Park has been a globetrotter in search for different training. He previously spent some time in Australia last year heading up to the Beijing Olympics.
