Spanish Short Course Championships: Flash Aschwin Wildeboer Breaks 100 Back World Record

MADRID, Spain, December 21. ASCHWIN Wildeboer provided the swimming community with its 108th world record of 2008 when he downed the short course meter global standard in the 100 back as part of a 400 medley relay.

Wildeboer clocked a swift time of 49.20 to lead the team of Aschwin Wildeboer, Sergio Garcis, Olaf Wildeboer and Eduard Lorente to a winning time of 3:30.90.

Wildeboer's effort surpassed the 49.32 set by Russia's Stanislav Donets at the European Short Course Championships last weekend.

Wildeboer took out his leadoff time in 23.30 and came back in 25.90, while Donets went out in 23.71 and came back in 25.61.
