U.S. Open: Special Prelim Update

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, August 1. WHILE we will have complete coverage of the day's activities after tonight's final session, Swimming World would like to pass along the news that Hayley McGregory put herself in position for a world-record run tonight in the women's 100 back.

McGregory clocked a lightning fast time of 59.11, improving her position as the second-fastest swimmer in the event this year. She had posted a time of 59.15 that stood as a world record for a short time at the U.S. Olympic Trials during prelims. Her time completely demolished the meet record of 1:01.51 set by Janie Wagstaff of the Kansas City Blazers back in 1991.

Keep an eye on Swimming World for a complete recap after tonight's action.
