USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale: Distance Free, Sprint Relays Open Weekend

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, July 17. THE distance freestyles and sprint relays were on offer during the first night of swimming at the USA Swimming Sectionals held in Fort Lauderdale.

Madison Parker of Gator Swim Club won the women's 1500 free in 16:52.43, while Siena Devenuto, 16, of Pine Crest took second in 17:11.93. Becca Bott, 16, of Nitro wound up third in 17:15.93.

Ricardo Monasterio of Gator Swim Club clinched the men's 800 free in 8:15.93, while Joey Pedraza of Pine Crest placed second in 8:17.22. Tyler Sell, 16, of Comets finished third in 8:18.92.

A mass of relay action closed the night. Bluefish's Cara Vogel, Laura Sogar, Alex Forrester and Alex Frasier won the women's 200 medley in 1:59.45, while The Bolles School's Dana Nessler, Megan Fonteno, Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace and Gwen Vanden Noort took the women's 200 free in 1:47.17.

Bluefish's David Russell, Sasha Dobrolioubov, Chris Rogers and James Fee claimed the men's 200 medley in 1:45.72, while The Bolles School's Tommy Gutman, Matt Schlytter, Daniel Coakley and Ryan Arabejo snagged the men's 200 free in 1:36.33.
