ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico, March 18. FOR the first time since 2001, the La Cueva women claimed the New Mexico State Championship.

La Cueva broke up a three-year state championship run of the women's meet by Albuquerque Academy by amassing 312 points. Los Alamos finished in second with 248.5 points while the three-time defending champion Albuquerque Academy women came in third (232).
On the men's side, Albuquerque Academy took its fourth straight championship with a 406 point showing. Sandia Prep took second with 206 points while Eldorado and Sandia tied for third with 193 points apiece.
Women's Individual Results
Kate Nelsen from Sandia Prep took home a gold medal and a state record in her 100 breaststroke (1:03.33). In addition, the Sandia Prep senior took fourth in the 50 freestyle (25.61). Nelsen is a Swimming World three-star recruit who's bound for the University of Texas next season.
Manzano's Marissa Campbell earned victories in each of the sprint freestyle events, posting a 52.27 100 freestyle and a 23.74 50 freestyle.
La Cueva topped the field in two relay events. The 200 freestyle relay contingent of Rachel Buser, Nicole Golliher, Anna Lydick and Kailee Cremer bested the competition in the shorter of the two freestyle relays with a 1:42.84 time while Brenna St. John, Margaret Gavin, Lydick and Gabriela Mackiw annihilated the 400 freestyle relay field with a 3:44.43 time.
Men's Individual Results
Marcus Guttmann from Albuquerque Academy busted out two individual event wins, taking first in the 100 butterfly (50.56) and the 500 freestyle (4:33.73).
Albuquerque Academy completed a successful sweep in the relay events. The 200 medley relay team of Preston Feinberg, Elliott Feng, Guttmann and Kalani Kaula touched out Sandia Prep in state-record time, clocking a 1:36.41. The Albuquerque Academy men took first in both freestyle relays as well, as their 200 freestyle relay (Feinberg, Feng, Calvin Shaneyfelt and Max Walla) won with a 1:29.11 standard while their 400 freestyle relay (Kaula, Guttmann, Feinberg and Shaneyfelt) topped the field with a 3:15.04 time.
Diving Results
Eldorado's Kaitlin Walker placed first in the women's diving competition with a 388.30 score. Jennifer Wylie of Manzano took the second-place berth with a 358.05 score while Isabelle Lydick of St. Pius X hauled in the bronze (316.30).
Blake Ferguson from Eldorado won the men's title, scoring a 436.75. Mark Grey from Rio Rancho placed second (405.95) while Kyle Lang of Albuquerque Academy settled for the third-place spot with a 384.45 score.
