Speedo Western Canadian Championships: Erica Morningstar Closes Meet With Fifth Gold
VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada, February 18. ERICA Morningstar, already grabbing a pair of short course national records this weekend, walked away with her fifth gold of the Speedo Western Canadian Championships.
Morningstar touched in 1:56.20, just .06 seconds away from Sophie Simard's national record in the women's 200 free, to claim her fifth title of the meet. She also won gold in the 50 and 100 freestyles, 200 IM and 50 breaststroke. Additionally, she broke two of the oldest national records in the books. For the men, Rick Say (200 free: 1:45.56), Mike Brown (100 breast: 1:01.65), Chad Murray (400 IM: 4:21.87), Matt Rose (50 back: 25.09) and Adam Sioui (100 fly: 52.73) picked up victories.
