Speedo Western Canadian Championships: Erica Morningstar Breaks Another National Record
VICTORIA, Canada, February 17. A day after breaking the national record in the 200 IM over the short course at the Speedo Western Canadian Championships, Erica Morningstar tracked down another Canadian record, this time in the 50 breast.
Morningstar clocked a time of 31.45 to eclipse the previous standard of 31.50 held by Keltie Duggan since 1990. Morningstar also won the 100 free with a time of 53.48 for her fourth title of the meet.
Meanwhile, Adam Sioui and Mike Brown both collected daily doubles during the night. Sioui captured titles in the 100 free (48.61) and 200 fly (1:55.27), while Brown touched first in the 50 breast (28.70) and 200 breast (2:11.00). Anders McIntyre joined them with a win of his own in the 200 back (2:00.69).
For the women, Brenna Maclean won the 200 fly (2:10.76), while Chelsey Salli claimed the 200 breast (2:28.17) and Melanie Nocher hit the wall first in the 200 back (2:08.52).
