Texas Women Looking Strong Early On in Class of 2008 Recruiting -- October 15, 2007

By Jason Marsteller

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 15. TEXAS women's head coach Kim Brackin is definitely making some noise this year in the Class of 2008 recruiting wars. With two legitimate top talents in Pan American Games gold medalist Kathleen Hersey and National Team member Leah Gingrich already verbally committing to sign with the Longhorns this year, Brackin definitely has the beginnings of what could be a special class. Also, rumor has it, several other top guns are leaning towards moving to Austin for their collegiate careers. Keep an eye on SwimmingWorldMagazine.com for more news as those rumors are confirmed.

Several other members of the Class of 2008 have been confirmed as verbally committing to a school as well.

So far, Indiana University, led by head coach Ray Looze, has secured pledges from Jimmy Barbiere, Tyler Shedron and Nikki White, while the Hoosiers' interstate rival Kentucky, coached by Gary Conelly, has a promise to sign from Mandy Myers and Adam Twer.

Other schools with one reported swimmer announcing an intention to sign are Alabama (Joe Ziegler), Southern California (Brent Hitchcock) and Utah (Whitney Lopus).
