American Swimming Coaches Association, United Arab Emirates Join Forces in Regional Swimming Academy
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, September 18. YESTERDAY, the Khaleej Times announced a joint-regional swimming cooperative between the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
While the report accurately reported an agreement between the United States and the United Arab Emirates, it inaccurately reported that USA Swimming and the United Arab Emirates Swimming Federation made the agreement with Dale Neuburger signing on behalf of USA Swimming.
In fact, the agreement running until 2020 is between the United Arab Emirates Swimming Federation and the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA). Neuburger did not represent USA Swimming, but was there within a FINA role.
"We are very happy to provide clinics run by some of the best coaches we have to offer over the next 12 years," said ASCA Executive Director John Leonard. "We are also pleased to be working with the United Arab Emirates Swimming Federation, which is one of the most progressive federations in the world. The agreement should help as their federation prepares to host the 2010 World Short Course Championships as well as their future attempts at bidding for the long course championships."
