Passages: German Open Water Swimming Coordinator Peter Lurz, 61 -- August 17, 2007

RHON, Germany, August 17. PETER Lurz, 61, German Swimming's open water coordinator, passed away last Saturday from a cardiac infarction according to a release from the German Swimming Federation.

Lurz, is survived by open water superstar son Thomas Lurz and daughter-in-law of world record holder Annika Lurz (previously Liebs). He also leaves behind his wife Renate and Annika's husband Stefan. While Thomas is a five-time world champion in open water, Stefan was named the Coach of the Year by German Swimming in 2007.

Swimming World Magazine sends its condolences to Lurz' family and friends as well as the entire Germany swimming community.
