Petar Stoychev, Esther Nunez Morera Win 53rd Edition of Lac St-Jean Open Water Meet -- July 28, 2007

ROBERVAL, Canada, July 28. AFTER watching the "short distance" swimmers take on the Olympic 10K distance as part of the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup held earlier this week (as reported here by SwimmingWorldMagazine.com), the long distance elite battled a 32K course at the same location.

Bulgaria's Petar Stoychev remained one of the members among the top echelon of open water swimming with a win in 6:36:29, while hometown favorite Simon Tobin of Canada snagged second in 6:36:38 in what amounts to a photo finish in open water competition. Argetina's Damian Blaum was involved in the final push for the title with a third-place 6:36:53.

Spain's Esther Nunez Morera claimed the women's title in 7:03:09, while Australia's Shelley Clark finished second in the women's race with a time of 7:06:47. Canada's Patricia Perreault finished third in 7:18:07.
