Jendrick, Hayden Among Top Names to Race at Zajac International Meet
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 30. SCHEDULED for June 1-3, the Mel Zajac Jr. International/Bell Grand Prix will feature some of the top swimmers in the world, including the United States' Megan Jendrick and Canada's Brent Hayden. Both athletes enjoyed strong showings at the recent World Championships in Melbourne.
While Jendrick earned a share of the silver medal in the 200 breaststroke, Hayden claimed a piece of the gold medal in the 100 freestyle at Rod Laver Arena. Among the other top names expected at the competition, in its 44th year, will be Canadians Mike Brown, Rick Say and Brian Johns and Erica Morningstar.
"We are witnessing a large increase of international participants for this year's edition of the Bell Grand Prix circuit," said Pierre Lafontaine, the CEO of Swimming Canada. "With the involvement of Bell as title sponsor of this series of international competition in Canada, we are creating a stronger, more competitive environment for our world class athletes and our young gun in our own pools."
