Jose Meolans to Retire After Beijing Olympics -- May 24, 2007

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina, May 24. ARGENTINA'S Jose Meolans, according to reports out of his native land, will retire from the sport after the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Meolans won gold in the 50 freestyle at the 2002 World Short Course Championships in Moscow and took gold in the 100 free at the 2003 Pan American Games. At the Pan Am Games, he was also the silver medalist in the 50 free and 100 butterfly. In 2006, he won bronze in the 100 free at the World Short Course Champs.
