Du Toit Enjoys Successful Paralympic World Cup

MANCHESTER, England, May 14. SOUTH Africa's Natalie du Toit turned in a strong showing at the Paralympic World Cup in Manchester, England, claiming victories in the multi-disability 50 and 100 freestyle events, along with the S9 100 freestyle. Du Toit was a five-time champion at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens.

In the men's 200 individual medley, Great Britain posted a 1-2-3 finish, headlined by Sascha Kindred winning in 2:47.71. Undefeated in the event for seven years, Kindred was followed to the wall by Matt Whorwood and Gareth Duke. In the female version of the event, Great Britain also swept the top three positions, behind the efforts of Natalie Jones, Nyree Lewis and Liz Johnson.

Great Britain's David Roberts took top honors in the 50 freestyle and countrymate Fran Williamson was the top finisher in the 50 backstroke. Duke added to his I.M. medal by taking gold in the 100 breaststroke and Lewis bettered the competition in the 100 backstroke. Matt Walker added the final gold for Britain, touching first in the multi-disability 50 free.
