Day One Complete at Swiss National Championships

ZURICH, Switzerland, May 10. THE first day of competition at the Swiss National Long Course Championships held in Zurich, Switzerland from May 10-13.

Men's 400 Freestyle
Eugenio Bianchi overcame the prelim's top swimmer, David Karasek, to claim the national title. Bianchi touched in 4:01.58, while Karasek settled for silver in 4:02.09. Martin Hohl closed out the podium with a time of 4:04.09.

Women's 400 Freestyle
Flavia Rigamonti, this Swiss record holder in the event, held off a hard-charging Swann Oberson for the gold. Rigamonti clocked a 4:15.71, well off her national standard of 4:11.77, while Oberson took silver in 4:15.94. Stephanie Eisenring, meanwhile, claimed bronze in 4:21.09.

Men's 50 Butterfly
Damien Courtois and Adrien Perez dead-heated with matching times of 24.80. The efforts finished half-a-second shy of Karel Novy's national record of 24.30. Alessandro Gaffuri picked up bronze in 25.20.

Women's 50 Butterfly
Maria Ugolkova earned the butterfly splash-and-dash title with a time of 28.51. Finishing just behind, Marina Ribi took home silver in 28.67. Meanwhile, Laetitia Perez grabbed bronze in 29.06.

Men's 100 Backstroke
Jonathan Massacand touched out Flori Lang in an incredibly close battle for the 100 back title. Massacand won gold in 56.63, while Lang clocked a 56.64 for silver. Ralph Madoerin wound up with bronze in 58.36.

Women's 100 Backstroke
Laetitia Perez won the gold in 1:06.91, while Laila Werner finished with silver in 1:07.37. Nathalie Hirsekorn garnered bronze in 1:07.43.

Men's 200 Breaststroke
Dimitri Waeber dominated the 200 breast with a time of 2:17.81. Rene Kolonko placed well behind in 2:22.29 for silver, while Kilian Bossard snagged bronze in 2:24.99.

Women's 200 Breaststroke
Ramona Pedretti pocketed the national title in 2:37.61, while Celine Baillod took silver in 2:38.08. Patrizia Humplik completed the top three in 2:40.41.
