First Day of Canada Cup Diving Finals Complete

MONTREAL, Canada, May 5. THE first night of finals diving competition at the Canada Cup held in Montreal, Canada finished up with China and Canada claiming all gold medals available.

The Chinese duo of Wang Xin and Chen Ruo notched 351.18 points to win the women's platform synchro event. Canada's team of Roseline Filion and Meaghan Benfeito finished with silver with 327.18 points, while the American pair of Mary Beth Dunnichay and Haley Ishimatsu garnered bronze with 317.22 points.

In the men's three-meter synchro, Canada's team of Alexandre Despatie and Arturo Miranda gave the hometown crowd something to cheer about with a gold-medal winning tally of 404.34 points. Ukraine's duo of Dmytro Lysenko and Anton Zakharov took silver with 391.20 points, while Malaysia's pair of Rosian Rossharisham and Ken Nee Yeoh nabbed bronze with 381.51 points.

China swept the top-two spots in the women's three-meter event. Li Ting topped everyone with 353.55 points, while He Zi snagged silver with 337.90 points. Italy's Tania Cagnotto rounded out the podium with 327.60 points.

Despatie continued his sensational night with partisan spectators when he tallied 529.10 points in the men's platform competition for gold. American Thomas Finchum earned silver with 528.75 points, while China's Zhou Luxin took bronze with 524.60 points.
