Emma Schlenker, 9, Finishes Alcatraz Swim as Youngest Female Ever -- April 26, 2007

PHOENIX, Arizona, April 26. YESTERDAY, Emma Schlenker became the youngest female to finish the swim to San Francisco Bay from Alcatraz. The Phoenix, Ariz., native completed the swim at the tender age of nine.

She followed in the footsteps of Braxton Bilbrey, who became the youngest to complete the swim last year as an 8-year-old. The Glendae, Ariz., product finished the race again this year.

In the end, 49 swimmers from Scottsdale's Swim Neptune completed the swim to raise $20,000 for the Foundation for Aquatic Safety and Training.
