Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen Goes Off at Illinois State Championships -- April 23, 2007

CHICAGO, Illinois, April 23. OVER the weekend, Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen continued her assault on the USMS 45-49 age group record books at the Illinois State Short Course Championships held in Chicago, Ill., over April 19-22. In sum, Pipes-Neilsen took down eight standards.

She recorded standards in the 50 free (24.73), 200 free (1:54.48), 1650 free (17:49.73), 100 back (59.70), 200 breast (2:32.64), 50 fly (26.85) and 400 IM (4:42.52).

So far this season, Pipes-Neilsen has erased USMS 45-49 records in 16 out of the 18 possible short course yard events. She still has the 100 and 500 frees in her sights, which will be on her docket at the USMS Nationals in Seattle, Wash.
