Michael Neubacher Signs With LSU Diving -- April 20, 2007
BATON ROUGE, Louisiana, April 20, DIVING coach Doug Shaffer announced the signing of Michael Neubacher on Friday.
Neubacher, a native of Windermere, Fla., prepped at Olympia High School and is a two-time FHSAA Class 3A state runner-up. He is also a three-time high school All-American, a Junior Olympic finalist and a Senior National qualifier.
"Michael has a wealth of talent and potential and can be a top performer at the conference and national levels," said Shaffer. "He's an experienced three-event diver who will have an immediate impact on our program and a bright future as a student athlete at LSU."
Neubacher placed as high as seventh in the platform at the Junior Olympic competition. He recently finished first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter at the Junior Olympic Spring Regional Championships.
Neubacher is slated to participate in the Junior Olympic National Championships, April 27-29, in Coral Springs, Fla.
"We are fortunate to have Michael's commitment," added Shaffer. "Michael will contribute to the strongest men's diving squad I've had the opportunity to coach at LSU."
