BOYDS, Maryland, April 20. ONE night after he won the one-meter competition, Chris Colwill teamed with Jevon Tarantino to win gold in the three-meter synchronized event at the USA Diving Spring National Championships. Colwill and Tarantino turned in a score of 436.83 to better the effort of 378.84, produced by the tandem of Troy Dumais and Mitch Richeson.
"We thought we'd do pretty good, but I didn't dream we'd do this good our first time out," Colwill said. "It was such a fun feeling. I've been in synchro before, but never at this level."
In the women's 10-meter synchronized event, the 14-year-old duo of Haley Ishimatsu and Mary Beth Dunnichay took top honors with a score of 326.10, just ahead of the 302.22 total of Laura Wilkinson and Kessica Livingtston.
