Bob Gillett Named Head Coach at Golden West College

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California, April 4. AFTER being named the Head Swimming Coach of Golden West Swim Club last September, Bob Gillett has now been named the head coach at Golden West College.

"I am very excited about the future at Golden West College," Gillett said. "I love living in the Huntington Beach area and the people in the athletic department at GWC are sensational. I think this situation has such great potential. This is the place to explore some new cutting-edge ideas for our sport as we move into new and exciting directions in swimming in the United States; especially in the area of post-graduate swimmers."

Gillett was the founding President of the National Club Swimming Association (NCSA), who recently hosted its ninth Junior National Championships in Orlando, Fla. The meet drew more than 1,300 top 18-and-under swimmers from across the USA.

Gillett also was the developer and implementer of computer-assisted race evaluation in 1978 and has recently released a new version of the software for the Pocket PC market.

He has been a major part of the development of many great swimmers at all levels. Most notably is Misty Hyman, who won 12 National Championships in the 100 and 200 butterfly and was the 2000 Olympic Champion in the 200 fly.
