California Sets American Record in 800 Free Relay; Arizona Maintains Lead After Second Day

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota, March 9. THE California quartet of Dana Vollmer, Emily Silver, Blake Hayter and Erin Reilly set the American record with a time of 7:00.89. That time surpassed the 7:01.03 set by Georgia at the 2005 NCAA meet.

Meanwhile, Auburn's foursome of Ava Ohlgren, Emile Ewing, Emily Kukors and Adrienne Binder finished second with a 7:01.05, while the Georgia contingent of Claire Maust, Jessica Cole, Anna Miller and Kara Lynn Joyce took third with a 7:02.97.

At the end of the day, Arizona owned first with 375 points, while Auburn is in second with 343 points. California stands in third with 261.5 points, while Stanford (250) and Georgia (195) round out the rest of the top five.
