Israel Winter National Championships Wrap Up

KIRYAT BIALIK, Israel, March 4. FOUR days of National competition for the Israelis at the 25m pool were the last tune up before the worlds in Melbourne.

Some of the results to be noted were as follows:

Anya Gostamelski became one of a few female swimmers in the world who has done the 100m trifecta events in under a minute. She has been at 55.5 and 59.2 in the free and back. Now, she swam the 100 fly in 59.65.

Gostamelski broke the Israel National record for the 200 free in 2:00.58. She then won the 50 free in 25.99, and the 100 free in 55.72. She also leadoff her medley relay with a 100 back time of 1:00.93.

Shai Livnat, Israel's premier male swimmer, won the 100 free in 50.72, the 200 free in 1:48.48 and the 400 free in 3:51.72.

Tom Beeri, on his way to Melbourne, swam 1:03.29 and 2:14.43 to win both breaststroke events.

Ehud Segal, another world championship-bound swimmer, won the 100 and 200 back in 54.87 and 1:59.07, respectively.

Nadav Cochavi won all the fly events (24.51, 53.68 and 1:58.08).

Danit Kama, 18, won the women's backstroke events with a 100 back time of 1:03.88 and a 200 back in 2:14.87.

Yaniv Shnider, 20, won the IM events in 2:03.46 and 4:16.97.
