Bogarin Doubles With 10K Win at South American Junior Championships -- February 28, 2007
ISLAS MARGARITA, Venezuela, February 28. OVER the weekend, 16-year-old Antonella Bogarin of Argentina swept the open water events with a triumph in the 10K at the South American Junior Championships. Meanwhile, Allan Carmo of Brazil took home the men's 10K crown.
Bogarin clocked a 2:21:15 to take the women's title over Nataly Calle of Ecuador, who crossed the line at 2:23:16. Leticia Camargo of Brazil rounded out the podium in 2:24:32.
In the men's race, Carmo turned in 2:04:22 to dominate the field as Victor Simoes of Brazil finished second in 2:08:34 and 17-year-old Esteban Salgado of Ecuador took third in 2:11:34.
