North Dakota Teams Take Early Lead at North Central Championships

GRAND FORKS, North Dakota, February 21. NORTH Dakota's Natalia Busso and Chase Fillingham won the 1,000 freestyle races that kicked off the 2007 North Central Conference Swimming & Diving Championships. They are the only final events to be held Wednesday. The meet continues with a full slate of action Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The morning session each day will consist of preliminaries with finals being held in the evening session.

Busso covered the distance in 10:28.59 with teammate Jessica Carlson in second (10:31.21) and Nebraska-Omaha's Lindsey Kline in third (10:36.10).

North Dakota swept the top three spots in the men's 1000 freestyle. Fillingham clocked a winning time of 9:35.85 while Erik Anderson finished second in 9:39.02 and Jeremy Blankenship finished third in 9:54.95.
