SAN ANTONIO, Texas, February 4. MARY Beck, a sophomore at Austin Westlake High School, established a national high school record in the 200-yard individual medley on Saturday. Beck clocked 1:58.28 at the Texas Region VII 5A Championships at the Josh Davis Natatorium and broke the former record by the smallest of margins. Beck recently represented the United States at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Hawaii, scoring a team-high 29 points while winning gold medals in the 200 I.M. and 400 I.M. She also earned a silver medal in the 200 backstroke.
