Columbia Captures 198-94 Victory Over Cornell on the Road -- January 28, 2007

ITHACA, New York, January 28. THE Columbia women's swimming team placed first in 14 of 16 events in a 198-94 victory at Cornell. Bridgette McCabe and Shannon Hosey were double-winners for the Lions (5-3, 2-3 Ivy League).

For the second week in a row, Hosey, a sophomore, met the NCAA Zone standard in three-meter diving. She won both diving events.

McCabe, a sophomore backstroker, swam 2:06.63 to win the 200 back. She also posted a lifetime-best time of 2:09.11 to win the 200 fly.

"We really showed up," noted head swim coach Diana Caskey. "We had some great swims out of our comfort zone at an away pool.

The Lions travel to Brown next Saturday, February 3 for a noon meet.
