The Collegiate Scene: A Look at the Weekend’s Top Action

CRANBURY, N.J., January 26. BEFORE long, the college season will be full steam ahead with conference championship action across the nation. Then, it'll be off to the NCAA Championships in March. But, before we reach those points, there's still some dual-meet competition on tap. Here's a look at this weekend's schedules for the top teams in the country.

Men

1. Texas: Coach Eddie Reese still has the Longhorns undefeated and they will clash with Texas A&M in a Saturday meet.

2. Stanford: The Cardinal get back to Pac-10 action this weekend when it faces Southern California on Saturday.

3. Auburn: The Tigers, gearing up for another run at an NCAA title, will be facing off with Florida State on Saturday.

4. California: The Golden Bears will mix it up with the University of Southern California in a Friday tilt.

5. Arizona: The Wildcats, dealt a loss by Texas last week, will return to action next weekend against Arizona State.

6. Northwestern: Big Ten Conference competition awaits the Wildcats Friday and Saturday against Ohio State and Michigan.

7. Southern California: A pair of Pac-10 Conference meets await the Trojans. They'll face California on Friday and Stanford on Saturday.

8. Florida: The Gators return to the Top 10 and have meets this weekend against Tennessee and Florida Atlantic.

9. Georgia: The Bulldogs will be in action at the Southeastern Conference Championships from Feb. 7-10.

10. Minnesota: The Golden Gophers will go to work in the Minnesota Challenge Friday and Saturday.

Women

1. Stanford: The top-ranked Cardinal will square off with BYU and California next weekend.

2. Auburn: The Tigers are gearing up for a Saturday faceoff with Florida State.

3. California: The Golden Bears, idle this week, will return to the pool to face Stanford next weekend.

4. Arizona: Off from competition this weekend, the Wildcats will meet Arizona State in a dual meet next weekend.

5. Texas A&M: The Aggies will try to win the Big 12 Conference championship from Feb. 14-17.

6. Florida: The Gators will tangle with Tennessee on Friday and face Florida Atlantic on Saturday for Senior Day.

7. Florida State: The Seminoles have two meets this weekend, against Indian River Community College on Friday and Auburn on Saturday.

8. Indiana: The Hoosiers have broken into the Top 10 and have the Big Ten Conference Champs Feb. 8-10.

9. Georgia: The highly competitive Southeastern Conference Championships are scheduled for Feb. 7-10.

10. Michigan: In Ann Arbor this weekend, the Wolverines will take part in the ABC Invitational.
