St. Bonaventure Splits with Binghamton

ST. BONAVENTURE, New York, January 20. THE St. Bonaventure men's swimming and diving team dropped to Binghamton with a 141.5-101.5 loss at the Reilly Center Pool on Saturday.

Sophomore Pat Henahan led the Bonnies with two first-place finishes. He captured gold in the 200-yard freestyle and the100-yard freestyle, with times of 1:47.77 and 48.91, respectively, recording the team's only wins on the day.

Senior Dan Freeland touched just behind Henahan in the 200-yard free, which earned him a second-place finish in a time of 1:47.92. Senior Aroldo Nery swam the 100-yard free in 48.95 and touched only four-hundredths of a second behind Henahan. Nery also placed second in the 50-yard free with a time of 22.34.

In the meet's distance events, senior Chris Ekimoff performed strongly and took silver in the 1000- and 500-yard free, with times of 9:58.45 and 4:50.59, respectively.

The Brown and White snagged second and third in the 200-yard individual medley when junior Roman Margulis and freshman Mariusz Michalik finished with times of 1:58.43 and 1:58.49, respectively. Margulis completed the 200-yard fly in 1:58.47, good for second place. Michalik claimed silver in the 200-yard breaststroke, with a time of 2:07.16.

On the boards, junior CJ Maurer took second in both the one-meter and the three-meter diving events. He finished with scores of 242.40 and 255.15, respectively.

With the loss, the Bonnies fall to 3-5 in dual meets on the season.

St. Bonaventure will host Niagara University on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Reilly Center Pool.
