Missouri State Splits With Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri, January 19. THE Missouri State men's swimming and diving team rolled past the Drury Panthers for the second time this season with a score of 140-102 Thursday at Drury University. The Bears' women's team fell to the Panthers 142-101 in the rematch.

The MSU men started the meet off with a victory in the 200 medley relay as Eduardo Pajares, Greg Temple, Victor Serra and Ignacio Gayo teamed up for a time of 1:34.47.

Serra was a double individual event winner for the Bears, claiming gold in the 100 butterfly with a season-best time of 50.49 and clocking a time of 1:52.67 to win the 200 IM. Pajares and Gayo were also individual winners with Pajares winning the 100 backstroke in a season-best time of 51.76 and Gayo with a win in the 50 freestyle in a season-best time of 21.11.

MSU freshman Andrew Denefe won the 100 freestyle with a personal-best time of 45.95 and senior diver Cole Kalkbrenner scored 276.68 points on the three-meter diving board to claim the win.

On the women's side, Chelsea Ray was the lone individual winner for the Bears. The freshman won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 214.58.

The Bears did end with triumph as Jordan Hawkins, Matana Wellman, Breanna Hollar and Andi Rojas combined for a time of 1:39.38 to win the last event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay.
