∙ Coach George Haines Passes Away — May 1, 2006
May opened on a truly sad note as George Haines, the famed coach of the Santa Clara Swim Club, passed away.
∙ Longhorn Aquatics Coach Will Sarosdy Passes Away — May 8, 2006
The sad news kept coming in early May as Longhorn Aquatics Coach Will Sarosdy passed away.
∙ Manaudou Breaks 400 Free World Record — May 12, 2006 by Emily Mason
Laure Manaudou provided the swimming community with some solace by knocking down a long-standing record in the 400 free. Manaudou clocked a 4:03.03 to eclipse the 4:03.85 set by Janet Evans in 1988.
∙ World Record Broken by Jessica Long at GTAC Disability Open — May 27, 2006
Jessica Long began what would wind up being an amazing year en route to Swimming World Magazine's Disabled Female Swimmer of the Year honors, by taking down the S8 division world record in the 200 free at the GTAC Disability Open.
