ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, December 16. ANOTHER day, another 17-18 short course yard national age group record for Katie Hoff. If unofficial live results coming from the North Baltimore Aquatic Club Christmas Invite can be believed, a day after taking down Summer Sanders' mark in the 200 IM, Hoff came back by erasing the oldest 17-18 national age group record off the books.
This time, Hoff touched in 4:02.58 to cut two seconds off the 400 IM standard. The performance eclipsed the 4:04.63 clocked by Tracy Caulkins in 1981. Hoff nearly broke the American record of 4:02.28 set by Summer Sanders on March 20, 1992.
