Hoff to Race at NBAC Christmas Invitational -- December 15, 2006
ANNAPOLIS, Maryland, December 15. THE big guns for the North Baltimore Aquatic Club will be in action this weekend when the NBAC Christmas Invitational runs from today through Sunday at the United States Naval Academy. Of course, the headliner will be Katie Hoff, the reigning world champion in the 200 and 400 individual medley events.
The multi-talented Hoff will race both medley events in the short-course competition, along with the 200 and 500 freestyles, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly. Hoff will be among the most-watched athletes at the 2007 World Championships in Melbourne, where she's slated to swim both I.M. disciplines, the 200 freestyle and 400 free.
In addition to Hoff, Courtney Kalisz and Felicia Lee will also be racing. Rising stars on the national scene, Kalisz and Lee will contest multiple events, with Kalisz competing in the open division and Lee in the 13-and-14 age group. For the NBAC men, Dan Madwed and Ian Rowe will carry the banner. Madwed is one of the top 200 fly swimmers in the country.
