Indiana Diving Adds Mahnken
BLOOMINGTON, Indiana, November 20. INDIANA's women's diving program has inked its first recruit for the 2007-08 season, as Heidi Mahnken has signed on to compete for the Hoosiers next season, head diving coach Dr. Jeff Huber announced Nov. 17.
"Heidi was a diver we really noticed in camp, and so when the school season started, we got in touch with her and recruited her," Huber said. "We think she's got a lot of potential, so we're just really excited that she'll be on our team next year."
Mahnken has earned four varsity letters in diving for Kickapoo (Mo.) High School, earning all-state recognition in 2005 and 2006. The Springfield, Mo., native was a conference champion in 2006 and an all-city champion in 2005 and 2006. She finished 10th in the state in 2006.
"I like the team and the coaches, and I know I will become a great diver and be part of a great team," Mahnken said when asked why she chose IU.
Mahnken is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Future Business Leaders of America and Young Life.
