Hoelzer, Kirk End San Antonio Grand Prix with Wins -- November 12, 2006

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, November 12. AFTER dazzling the crowd on the second night of the USA Swimming Grand Prix at Palo Alto College, Olympians Aaron Peirsol, Ian Crocker and Brendan Hansen opted to bypass the final day of the competition. Nonetheless, a handful of quality swims were generated on Sunday night.

Representing Auburn Aquatics, Margaret Hoelzer defeated the field in the 100-yard butterfly with a showing of 54.00, nearly a second clear of Tanica Jamison (54.73). Meanwhile, Olympian Tara Kirk was an easy winner in the 100 breaststroke, thanks to a swim of 1:00.25. Both Hoelzer and Kirk will represent the United States in March at the World Championships in Melbourne.
